The renovation of the Brigham Women’s cafeteria was the culmination of a foodservice master plan for the renowned medical campus, focused on health, nutrition, and serving the diverse needs of ten different identified population typologies of medical professionals, researchers, visitors and patients.
The result of the master plan strategy was to reframe the holistic intent of the hospital: to embrace wellness not just through healthcare, but through dining. To provide biophilic design that put patrons in touch with nature, through daylight, garden plantings, natural patterns and materiality.
The program would focus on healthy options, a plant-forward menu, quadrupling the whole and raw food offerings, eliminating fried food cooking equipment, and educating the patrons and patients through cooking classes and exhibition cooking demonstrations, for a true RX for health.
